The house in the movie ‘A Star Is Born’

Have you seen A Star Is Born – the movie that made me bawl my eyes out starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper? This is the house.

When you watch the couple turn onto a dusty dirt road in what feels like a middle of nowhere location they’re turning onto an acre-plus site just ten minutes away from the beach up Malibu Canyon in the picturesque Monte Nido neighborhood.

Built in 1973, the mid-century style post and beam home was designed by modernist architect Douglas Rucker. Also an artist and author, Rucker’s credits include more than 80 residential and commercial projects in California, Hawaii and Greece.

The interior scenes showcase the open floor plan and walls of glass that seamlessly form a connection to the grove of mature native oak trees that shade the house.

Respectfully renovated by architect and former owner Dan Meis, the home features exposed beam ceilings, multiple fireplaces (two inside and one on the outdoor deck near the built-in barbecue), built-in bookshelves, and a spacious art studio with its own entrance that can double as a guest room.

The heart wrenching love story is earning Oscar nominee buzz as a contender for Best Picture. The house deserves a nod for Best Supporting co-star.

The home sold last year for $2.050 million. It’s currently not for sale.
