A Mid Century Modern With Bohemian Flair Hits the Market in Echo Park
The current owners decided against boring. Instead they mixed finished plywood floors, lava stone, and Heath ceramic tiles to give this mid century modern home for sale in Echo Park a unique, bohemian, flair.

Echo Park
It was built in 1967 on one of the best streets in the Elysian Heights pocket of Echo Park.
You enter a living room anchored by a decorative lava stone fireplace and oversized windows that bring in lots of light.
The dining area is located in a roomy galley style kitchen. The screen of green from the bamboo planted on the exterior makes you feel like you’re far away in a retreat setting.
The kitchen is stylishly fitted with custom wood cabinets, a Viking stove, and a separate refrigerator to store your wine. (Very important.)
Both bedrooms get tons of light and have good size closets to store your vintage wash jeans and your collection of Chuck Taylors.
One bedroom is now used as a den and looks out onto the yard.
During most late afternoons you’ll inevitably end up in your terraced back yard sharing a bottle of Pinot with friends and talking about how great it is to live here.
And when it’s just you, you’ll end up on the deck enjoying your private and professionally landscaped yard with two dining areas, two fire pits, and those views.

The Former Home of Disneyland Artist Hits the Market in the Hollywood Hills
Mary Blair was an animator and concept artist for Disneyland’s “It’s a Small World” attraction. Her former personal residence has a lot size measuring over 17,000 square feet that makes you feel like you’re in your own world, after all.

$1,895,000
The house is known as the Mary and Lee Blair Residence and Studio. The Blair’s modernist home was designed by architect Harwell Hamilton Harris and built from scratch in 1939.
Harris worked for modernist architects Richard Neutra and Rudolf Schindler before branching out on his own in 1933.
Rather than compete with the steep hillside, Harris took full advantage of the secluded setting and designed this three-storied home to mimic the levels of the hillside it rests on.
In 2011 the then owners restored and mindfully modernized the structure. Today the home features warm and rich wood tones that start with exterior redwood siding and continues inside the open floor plan.
Walls of glass, multiple large windows, and generously sized double doors let in the light and the several outdoor areas that include a back patio with a landscaped hillside.
The former studio, listed as the second bedroom, offers endless potential for use. And who knows, maybe you’ll be inspired creatively like Mary and her husband Lee (also a Disney animator.)
